Great shooting, or at least much improved shooting, is knowing your shot and getting it as close as you can to efficient shooting form by repeating that motion over and over and over again. That process is helped along tremendously if you are doing shooting drills that allow you the best chance of replicating that good form. It’s also helped along if there’s a coach talking to you and encouraging you and guiding you to where you know you can be as a shooter. Build confidence. Take shots, make shots, build confidence. Then you take all that and you put it into a game. Which, of course, means you need to at some point practice in a game-ready way: hands and feet ready, quick release, trusting your form. You don’t try to make shots, you try to employ good form, your good form every time and the results will be what you want them to be. Build the confidence, keep the confidence, and your teammates will be looking for you each possession up court. Now, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
