twelve week practice programs! Click here to sign up for Boston NTL Programs and Play Forever League Online! (Get Some Green in Your Game!) Boston 2008 Calendar (updated 07/31/08)Sunday beginning 09/14/08 The Beautiful Basics (12 weeks; $230) -- Click here to read reviews! Basketball is all about the little things and doing the little things well. This program is designed for the beginner and novice player but also for the experienced player who wants to review, rediscover and resurrect the nuances of the game that have been lost or forgotten or maybe never mastered fully. A dream clinic because the basics, after all, are what it's all about! Click here to register! Adam Pritchard 9-10:30am Kennedy School Intermediate Plus+ Skills & Scrimmage Clinic (12 weeks; $230) -- Click here to read reviews! Dazzling combination of structured drills and game-like scrimmaging, just like a college or pro practice! Approximately 1/3rd of the time is spent on individual skills work (ballhandling, shooting, shot fakes, post moves, etc.). 1/3rd on team skills (screening, shaping up off screens, spacing, where to go on the floor and when to go there, team defense, fastbreak situations, etc.), and 1/3rd of the time in controlled scrimmages during which the coach blows the whistle to remind players of the things we were developing and hoping to implement into our "games" during the drills. Really, as a player hoping to further develop skills, what could be better? Click here to register! Adam Pritchard 10:30am-Noon Kennedy School Monday beginning 09/15/08 Pure Stroke Shooting Clinic (12 weeks; $230) -- Click here to read reviews! Drill your shot! Drill your shot! Repetition is the key element in the quest to improve your shooting. We'll put you in drill situations where you will take a variety of shots, first in simple form-shooting then progressing to game-like situations, hear feedback and get reminders on ways to find greater success. Many players who've improved their shots and their scoring abilities credit (as they should!) the NTL Pure Stroke Shooting Clinics! Click here to register! Steve Bzomowski 7-8:30pm Kennedy School Coached Scrimmage Clinic! (Back by Popular Demand!) Two teams, Two Coaches! One referee! (12 competitive weeks; $280) NEW! This is what we used to do in the summer sessions and it's what we're going to do here, but we've added a twist! We split the group up into two teams the first week, each with a coach (the twist!), then give each team an offense and defenses and their many variations to practice and employ in the games and scrimmages. All the pre-scrimmage drills each week will be designed to improve each group's "team offense". Naturally, we'll have to back-up on occasion to master certain “individual skills" to make the team skills relevant. Then we'll play the games: keep score, blow the whistle, shoot free throws, count three-pointers, call time-outs, fill roles, discuss and employ real and appropriate basketball strategies. Like PFL without the stats but with coaches to help focus you! Hour and ten minutes devoted to the scrimmage each week. (Open to hi-Novice through Advanced and limited to the first 16 players.) Click here to register! Steve Bzomowski, Adam Pritchard (and great guest coaches!) 8:30-10pm Kennedy School Tuesday beginning 09/16/08 Intermediate Skills & Scrimmage (12 weeks; $230) -- Click here to read reviews! Curtis Hall is a funky old gym. It's got the track oval up above and a floor that's a wee bit wavy. (Perfect excuse for a lost dribble.) It's a little like old school basketball, and the setting puts us in the mood to play the game right. The participants in this clinic come to learn and come to play. The scrimmages are always a nice extension of the drills and everyone seeks to make, recognizes, and acknowledges a good play. We always look forward to coaching the Tuesday night clinic. It's been a great one for years. (Open to Intermediate and higher level players only!) Click here to register! Bzomowski 7:15-8:45pm Curtis Hall Thursday beginning 09/18/08 Novice+ Skills & Scrimmage Clinic (12 weeks; $230) This is where you go for the nitty-gritty of the game: the wall dribbling, the four-minute all-team layup drill, the 11-player break drill with the loose ball winner getting a gift certificate for a free pair of adidas, the zig-zag drill, and, most of all, the impeccable ball movement and team play that week-by-week seeps into our bones and has on-lookers gasping! Gasping! It's a fun clinic where everyone has the opportunity to get better! Click here to register! Bzomowski 7-8:30pm Matignon HS Advanced Skills & Scrimmage (12 weeks; $230) The players are better here: they've got more experience, some more skills. They might be bigger, they might be quicker, they may be dealing with more of the competitive juices, but, oh, do they have holes in their game. We concentrate on execution, slowing the game down, footwork, reading defense, identifying, understanding, learning and copying the moves and skills of the truly great players. Competitive drills, feedback, scrimmaging with the goal of improving every week. Click here to register! Bzomowski 830-10pm Matignon HS Saturday beginning 10/25/08 (call 1-888-NTL-HOOP for info) Fall Play Forever League (PFL) (13 weeks plus Draft Day: $180/$140) A league for players who want a no-hassle, well-organized, professionally run, totally fun and competitive basketball experience. Appropriate for high novice through low advanced men and women adult players. (If you are really good or, worse yet, think you are really good, this probably is not the league for you. Though we have plenty of good players, they manage to remain humble and honor the effort and desire of others.) Come to Draft Day (Saturday, 10/25/08), show us what you got, or don't got, and we place you on a team. Players can request 1 or 2 or 3 specific teammates, but every effort is made to create teams of equal strength. Players receive numbered jerseys or shirts. We print full and accurate software generated NCAA-type box scores (example) with field goals, free throws, three-pointers [made and attempted], rebs [off. and def.], assists, turnovers, blocks, steals, fouls and minutes played to distribute at game's end. Cumulative season's team and individual stats (example) are kept as well. Referee and electronic scoreboard. 10 regular season games and 3 playoff games for all ten teams. Ball movement, team play, equal playing time, and competitive but sportsmanlike spirit are emphasized. PFL Game Procedures / PFL Format and Rules Click here to register!
